This year we look forward to seeing lots of returning and new faces to The Nest. All children have adapted excellently yet again to the new changes we have faced due to Covid 19, well done!
We aim to continue to provide new educational experiences to our children daily. We will focus on Nursery Rhymes including: Humpty Dumpty, Incey Wincey Spider, The Wheels on the Bus, 5 little Ducks and Twinkle Twinkle. These nursery rhymes will link to different areas of provision throughout the room and be incorporated during group times.
Another of our topics will be Amazing Animals. We hope for children to grasp a wider understanding of an array of animals from all over the world and hopefully have the chance to see some in person! Our key books for this term will be: Dear Zoo, Tip Tap went the Crab, Driving my Tractor, We’re going on a Bear Hunt and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
We will also be focusing on different types of transport. Our topic is called “Out and About.” During group times we will focus on three different core texts which are: Travelling By, Naughty Bus, Ambulance, Ambulance!
One of our core stories this year has been ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. To support the children’s understanding we wanted to give our children an unforgettable opportunity to watch caterpillars change into chrysalides and then emerge as beautiful Painted Lady Butterflies. The children have loved raising and feeding their very own butterflies and then releasing them into the wild!
